The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease there are five reasons why Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) should be glad she’s free of Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson). Let’s discuss these five reasons in depth, and share what you think in the comments section below.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Five Reasons Why Sally Should Be Glad She's Free Of Billy

Reason Number One-Billy Has Commitment Problems, He Always Has

Reason number one is that Billy has commitment problems, he always has-he’s been married four times to three different women and dated fourteen, including the wives.

In almost every instance, Billy’s relationships ended because of cheating, not to mention he had affairs with two of Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) wives when Jack was married to them-that’s pretty low!

Billy’s commitment problems extend to several different areas of his life-when’s the last time you saw Billy spend time with any of his kids?

Billy has a daughter with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) who he was married to twice, and then there was Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono) who died.

He also has a son with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) who Victoria adopted, in spite of his unfaithfulness-she couldn’t blame the baby for how he was created.

Reason Number Two-Billy Has A Tendency To Sabotage Himself

Along with his commitment problems in relationships and jobs, Billy also has a tendency to sabotage himself-in both relationships and jobs.

Mostly the self-sabotage happens when he lets  his personal life and problems interfere at work-which is not surprising, since almost every company he’s worked at have been owned by relatives or in-laws.

He started out as a rebellious teenager working at jobs where he had no business doing so, and even stole from Katherine Chancellor, (Jeanne Cooper) a grandmotherly figure to him.

He was a bartender, a waiter, and even a model for a very short time, and his most notable instance of self-sabotaging at jobs was when he purchased the magazine, Restless Style.

He started printing slanderous articles about the Newman family, and made many enemies-he also continued drinking.

Reason Number Three-Billy Has Addictions And Can Be Self-Destructive

Billy also has addictions-starting with drinking as a teenager, to the point where he suffered from alcohol poisoning once, and he can be self-destructive.

He started drinking again during his “Restless Style” years, and even had a drunken nightmare where the ghost of his late father, John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) visited him.

This episode was similar to the Charles Dickens novel “A Christmas Carol” where John served as the “ghost of Christmas future.”

He showed Billy what his life would be like if we were to continue to drink, and the nightmare had a real impact on him.

Billy vowed to change his ways, but his changes never stayed for very long-later, getting an internet gambling addiction for which Jack sent him away, but turned to gambling on horse races!

Reason Number Four-Billy Can Become Obsessed With Revenge

Billy can not only be self-destructive, but he can be obsessed with revenge-granted, the loss of a child can be devastating, and especially if a parent’s mistake was a factor.

When Billy lost Delia, he had left her alone in his car with her little dog when he stopped in a store to get some ice cream, and she ran out in the road chasing her dog.

It was dark, and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) accidentally hit her but didn’t realize it-she was pushed off into a bush, and the truth didn’t come out until later.

Billy became obsessed with revenge against Adam, so much to the point that he chased him in his car to the end of a cliff.

Billy then proceeded to ram Adam in his car off the cliff, where Adam was presumed dead for a couple of years.

Reason Number Five-Sally’s Been With Destructive Men And Cheaters Before-She Can Do Better!

Reason number five Sally should be glad she’s free of Billy is she’s been with destructive men and cheaters before, and she can do better than that!

In Genoa City she was with Adam for a while-and while he’s starting to show some growth, all in all theirs was not such a good relationship.

In Los Angeles, she was involved with another destructive and self-destructive man, Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) who can be worse than either Adam or Billy!

And then there was waffling Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) who dumped her for an old girlfriend-and Sally went off the deep end. Come on, Sally, it’s high time you found a man who truly loves and respects you, instead of being a bum magnet!
