Sally recalled a particular instance of not getting the sewing machine she wanted for Christmas as a little girl. The worst part was that when Sally’s dad showed up after the holiday was over, he was oblivious to the fact that he’d let her down.

When Billy made all those grand plans involving Abbott Communications and they fell through, it triggered Sally’s past trauma. Sally has dealt with too many broken promises in her lifetime, so she can’t handle the thought of all this crumbling again.

Sally needs for this to be “real,” so that surely goes for her personal relationship with Billy as well as her professional one. Billy overheard the end of Sally and Victoria’s discussion, so he knows there’s a lot riding on his actions moving forward.

If Billy wants a lasting future with Sally, he can’t let her down. Billy could hear the pain in Sally’s voice as she confided in Victoria and may soon make it his mission to erase any doubts she might be having.

Billy may want to prove he can be a better man than Sally’s father was and follow through on his commitments. Although Billy doesn’t have a great track record on keeping promises, he may want to assure Sally that he’s on a new path thanks to her.

Billy is always going to have some anger issues and a Newman grudge, but he’s learning not to let all that consume him. It seems like Billy truly wants to go all in on Abbott Communications and make it the best it can be.

Billy wants the same for his personal relationship with Sally, so he might decide to prove they can have something real in all areas of their lives. It’s easy to imagine this building to Billy’s surprise marriage proposal.

Perhaps Billy will pitch a wedding to Sally and insist he’s ready to make vows that he won’t break. It could be a sweet gesture and a way to strengthen his commitment to Sally, but would she say yes to a ring and plans for their nuptials?
