The Young and The Restless Recap: The Newmans Rescue Sienna From Matt, But There’s a Twist!

YR Matt Mitch Sienna

The January 5 episode of Young and Restless saw the Newmans finally staging a successful rescue of Sienna (Tamara Braun). But as Noah (Lucas Adams) joyfully reunited with his lover, Nick (Joshua Morrow) took Matt (Roger Howarth) on a ride that did not end as he had planned!

Sienna awoke to find herself handcuffed to the headboard in a cheap motel with her husband lying next to her in bed. She tried to claim that she only cheated on him with Noah to see if he still cared about her, given that women at the club were always throwing themselves at him, and he would just eat it up. She reminded him that whatever happened, she remained by his side and tried to get him to open up. Sienna reached out to touch his cheek and insisted, “We can still make this right.”

Matt got up off the bed and went to the window as Sienna continued to tell him how much she loved him and how they’d been a perfect match because he understood her. She begged him to undo the cuffs so they could talk properly, and as he moved closer to her and knelt down by the bed, she thought she’d gotten through to him, but he only tightened her bonds. “You are a sick bastard!” she screamed. Matt calmly informed her that the time for her to beg for her life was long gone.

Sienna continued trying to convince Mitch that they could still work through this and asked him to explain his side of the story. He doubted that she really wanted to start over and declared that her desperation was pathetic. “You are disgusting,” she spat back. “You are a rapist and an abuser and a drug dealer. And pain and suffering and all of the addiction and overdoses, they all lead right back to you, don’t they? And it makes you feel so proud. Like you are some slick angel of death.”

Matt joked that she was being very judgmental for an adulteress, and after exchanging texts with Annie, Sienna taunted him about the crooked cop he enjoys bossing around. She wondered why he married her and why he got so buddy-buddy with Noah, then came to the realization that he had been playing the long game so he could get rid of them both. When she called him Mitch again, he leaned in to introduce himself properly. “My name is Matt Clark,” he hissed. “That’s so bad for you, Sienna. Because I really am as dangerous as they all say.”

Their argument was interrupted by Annie (Catherine Kresge) entering to report that the car was ready to go, and Sienna turned her attention to trying to talk some sense into the detective. But Annie wasn’t listening and darkly joked with Matt about how Sienna wouldn’t ever shut up. Matt removed the handcuffs, and Annie held their victim at gunpoint so they could lead her out.

Victor (Eric Braeden) sent Nick the location where they could intercept Matt, and both Noah and Sharon (Sharon Case) insisted on coming along, despite Nick’s protests. Later, Victor was on the phone with them as they headed there, and Adam (Mark Grossman) promised the security team wouldn’t act until they arrived.

Sienna tried bargaining for her life as Annie tried to push her into the back seat of the vehicle, but Matt stopped her so he could give his wife one last kiss. She bit his lip and pushed him away, so Matt responded by grabbing her throat and promising to end this. Just then, Victor’s security operatives pulled up and grabbed Matt and Annie as Sienna ran into Noah’s waiting arms. Matt tried to keep up the attitude as Nick and Sharon basked in their victory, but was clearly affected to see Sienna embracing Noah. Nick then surprised Matt by revealing that they weren’t going to the cops.

Later, Sharon and Noah brought Sienna back to the house and wanted to make sure she was okay following her ordeal. Sienna expressed her gratitude to Noah and his family for helping rescue her, and Sharon assured her she was safe now and that Matt didn’t win. Alone, Noah held Sienna close on the couch as she processed everything she’d been through. “You saved me,” she cried. “And I owe you my life.”

Nick brought Matt to the Newman Ranch, where Victor told the villain he should have stayed dead. As Matt moved towards him, Victor punched him in the gut and pushed his face into the coffee table. Nick then informed his nemesis that he was going to make sure that he never hurt his family ever again.

As Nick drove down the dark road, Matt goaded him from the back seat, bringing up the fact that Adam was also married to Sharon and suggesting he should ask her which brother was her favorite. But Nick wouldn’t let him get his goat and promised he would be taken care of. Matt continued struggling with his bonds as he kept talking, insisting that Nick wasn’t a killer.

At the ranch, Adam complimented his father on punching Matt and, noting how angry Nick was, understood that his brother should be the one to end this himself. But in the car, Matt managed to get his zip-tied hands from behind his back out in front and suddenly reached out over Nick’s head to choke him! As Nick struggled to breathe, he lost control of the wheel, and his eyes widened in horror.
