OMG SHOCKING!!! Coronation Street promotes scheming character to show regular

Coronation Street has promoted scheming character Christina Boyd to a show regular, with actor Amy Robbins set to turn her guest stint into a permanent one.
First debuting on the soap over two years ago, Robbins made her first appearance in January 2023 appearing as Daisy Midgeley’s on-screen mother.
Daisy star Charlotte Jordan exited the soap earlier this year after playing the Rovers Return barmaid for four years.

While Daisy may have left Weatherfield for good, The Sun reports that her mother will be staying on the Street permanently.
Since returning to the cobbles recently, Christina clashed with Jenny Connor (again!) over their affections for funeral director George Shuttleworth.

While Christina was previously portrayed as quite selfish and calculating, it’s possible we’ll be seeing a softer side to her in her new romantic connection with George.
The soap bid farewell to former Rovers landlady Jenny at the beginning of this month after actor Sally Ann Matthews exited the role after a 10-year return.
Her departure makes way for Cath Tyldesley to return to run the pub as her character Eva Price makes a comeback after seven years away.
Speaking recently about her exit, Matthews said the original scene was meant to include former Rovers landlady Bet Gilroy, played by Julie Goodyear.
“Fun fact, when she walks into the Rovers and Bonnie Tyler started to play, and Jenny was looking around, what was supposed to happen was you were gonna see Bet Gilroy. And she was gonna talk,” Matthews said on Conversation Street.

“For whatever reason, when they came to the edit, they didn’t feel it worked as well. They must have felt it worked best with Barbara [Rita Tanner star Barbara Knox],” she added.
Dispelling rumours that she had received the axe, Matthews said she came to a joint decision with the Corrie producers and that Jordan’s departure as Daisy played a big role in her own decision to leave.
She said: “I was kind of contemplating [leaving] last year. When I knew she was going, I was kind of like, ‘Do I want to stay? Do I not?”
