EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley admits major regret over weight loss

EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley has opened up about her weight loss surgery, and the regret she has regarding it.

Lorraine played the role of Karen Taylor in the BBC One soap from 2017 to 2024. The star left fans stunned the same year her character left Walford, as she shared pictures on her social media of her weight loss.

Lorraine had a gastric sleeve procedure in her surgery, and lost seven stone.

The actress, who is 49, recently reflected on this life-changing operation and admitted that she wishes she had taken a different route to lose weight. During the surgery, around 75 to 80% of Lorraine’s stomach was removed.

The star openly said that she would’ve preferred to lose weight through dieting and exercise.

The actress also believed she had ‘too much money’ while working at EastEnders, suggesting her steady income played a part in her often eating out.

‘I think I had too much money,’ she added. ‘It’s better not working, because I haven’t got the money to eat out every day.’

Lorraine’s EastEnders character Karen saw her move to Spain with her family.

In her absence, tragedy struck when her son, Keanu, was murdered on Christmas Day, having been stabbed with a meat thermometer by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).

Karen then made a shock return to Albert Square, determined to find out what had happened to her boy.
