EastEnders Brings Back Forgotten Avani Story Tonight in Harrowing Joel Aftermath
Avani’s Ordeal Resurfaces
In Wednesday’s episode of EastEnders (October 15), streaming now on BBC iPlayer ahead of its TV broadcast, the fallout from Joel Marshall’s (Max Murray) attack on Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) takes an even darker turn.
The community is still reeling from the horrifying assault when Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) is suddenly dragged back into Joel’s web of cruelty. Months ago, Avani and Joel slept together — but unbeknownst to her, Joel secretly recorded the encounter without her consent.
Tonight, that forgotten storyline comes back with devastating consequences as social services and the police arrive in Walford to speak to Avani about the footage.

The Truth Comes Out
When Avani learns the truth — that Joel not only filmed her but also uploaded the video online — she is left distraught. Authorities admit that the clip is still circulating and hasn’t yet been taken down, leaving Avani horrified and humiliated.
Unable to process what’s happened, she flees the house in tears. Her parents, Ravi (Aaron Thiara) and Priya (Sophie Khan Levy), later find her crying alone in the allotments, broken by the violation of her privacy and trust.
Through tears, Avani tells them that Joel and his actions have “ruined her life.” Both Ravi and Priya comfort their daughter as Ravi vows to protect his family — even suggesting a getaway to help Avani recover from the trauma.
Ross Faces the Fallout
Elsewhere, Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) visits Vicki in hospital and tells her that Joel filmed her attack, handing the footage to the police. But in a shocking confession, Ross admits that he knew months ago about Joel’s habit of recording women without consent — including Avani — and failed to intervene before things spiralled into violence.
Vicki, reeling from the revelation, tells Ross that their relationship is over for good. The heartbreak continues when Ross returns home to find Zack (James Farrar) has packed his things into bin bags after Sharon (Letitia Dean) ordered him out of the house.
Now alone, disgraced, and homeless, Ross is left questioning whether he has any future in Walford after losing everything and everyone he cares about.
What’s Next for the Nandra-Harts?
Avani’s trauma is set to ripple through upcoming episodes as she struggles to regain her sense of safety. The storyline also forces Ravi to confront his own past and the lengths he’s willing to go to protect his daughter.
The episode highlights the ongoing issue of image-based abuse, a topic EastEnders has handled with sensitivity, bringing awareness to a crime that affects many young people in the digital age.
