Young & Restless Preview: Adam’s Between a Rock and a Hard Place… and What He Does Next Will Change *Everything*
Young & Restless’ Adam found himself between a rock and a hard place in Thursday’s episode, thanks to Chelsea’s questioning, but the situation is about to get a lot worse for the former black sheep of the Newman clan when he’s forced to make a decision that will change everything.
Until now, Adam has been able to manage the ever-widening gulf between Victor and Chelsea using stalling tactics and spin, but alas, the situation with his father targeting Jack and Jabot has finally landed him in a corner from which he cannot finesse his way out.
Adam following Victor’s orders to publicly announce that Jabot was failing, knowing that Jack was merely hunkering down against a potential AI attack from his father, rubbed his lady love the wrong way on a couple of fronts. First, they did it behind her back. Chelsea demanded to know why Victor and Adam made a move without running it by her first. The sheer delusion! It’s like she hasn’t even met Victor Newman!
Unsurprisingly, Victor put her back in her place, while Adam managed to avoid a larger crisis by placating her, soothingly reminding her that he was pulled away suddenly because it was a last-minute thing… and promising that it was a one-off.
It wasn’t until Adam and Chelsea encountered Jack, who gave them an epic telling-off, that the ramifications of what they’d done — and who they’d done it to — truly hit Chel’s conscience. When it did, Adam found himself in the proverbial hot seat being hammered about potentially putting families on the unemployment line during the holidays and exploiting Jabot to gain favor with Victor.
Chelsea finally declared that being good human beings that Connor could be proud of was more important than doing Victor’s bidding, and asked Adam, “You feel the same way, don’t you?” This all left us with the impression that the only correct answer for Adam was an immediate “Yes,” stated with conviction. Happy wife, happy life, and all that.
Of course, Young & Restless moved on to Friday, and Nikki threatenig to leave Victor, without showing us Adam’s reply. Annoying.
Never fear, however, as Chelsea is not about to be mollified this time around. There will be no moving on or distraction, even by Connor’s apparent ‘minor setback’. How do we know? The latest teasers indicate that this week will end with Chelsea giving Adam an ultimatum, which will presumably involve him choosing Victor/sleeping on the couch or Chelsea/his conscience.
Will Chelsea require Adam to tender his resignation from Newman Media? Will Victor fire them if they refuse to his bidding or go behind his back and print a retraction about Jabot? Or will Adam upend his love life by choosing his father or flat out refusing to pick a side? If Melissa Claire Egan’s online reveal is anything to go by, there could be trouble ahead for ‘Chadam’.
The bottom line: Adam is truly between a rock and a hard place given that he’s finally in a good place with his dad and Chelsea… and being forced to choose between them, regardless of which way he goes, will change everything. Do you think Adam will choose Victor, Chelsea, or refuse to choose?
